If I could permanently ban a word from general usage, I would choose the word “hate.”
I would choose this word because it has become a pervasive and destructive force in modern discourse. It’s often used to dehumanize, degrade, and divide people, fostering a culture of intolerance, anger, and violence.
By removing the word “hate” from our vocabulary, we might be more inclined to engage in constructive dialogue, empathy, and understanding. We could focus on addressing conflicts and disagreements with civility, respect, and compassion.
Plus, think of all the positive words we could use instead – like “disagree,” “dislike,” or “strongly oppose”!
